Expensive medicine & equipment to be regulated


Minister of Health Rajitha Senarathne says the price of high priced medicine and medical equipment will be regulated in future.

Speaking at a media briefing today at the Ministry of Health Minister Senarathne said the good governance is of the belief that the health sector is not a business.

The Minister said the government will reduce the prices of all high priced medicine and the prices of medical equipment such as stents.

He added charges by private hospitals, clinics and laboratories will also be regulated.

The gazette notification pertaining to the price of 38 types of eye lenses was issued today.

Minister Senaratne said eye lenses can be purchased under the new pricing list from tomorrow.
