MH179 flight to Colombo turns back

2017-02-17

Flight MH179 from Kuala Lampur to Colombo has been forced to turn back due to technical issues earlier today.

Malaysia Airlines in a statement said the aircraft that departed at 10.10pm yesterday, had to turn back when its auxiliary power unit was unable to start.

The aircraft landed at the Kuala Lampur International Airport at 1.50am today.

Malaysia Airlines in their statement said, “Due to closure of Bandaranaike International Airport for scheduled maintenance at the runway, an immediate retiming was not possible. Passengers were accommodated at nearby hotels.”
