Interviews called for new political parties


The Elections Commission says interviews have been called for approved applications submitted by political parties for registration at the Elections Commission.

Speaking to NewsRadio Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said 95 new political parties have submitted applications for registration.

Deshapriya said the commission has decided to call interviews for the relevant political parties separately.

Accordingly these interviews will be carried out from today till the 22nd of April and from the 26th to the 28th of April.

Mahinda Deshapriya said once all interviews have been concluded the Elections Commission will call a meeting in order to reach final decision on approved political parties.
