The JVP says it hopes to hold a special discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe pertaining to abolishing the executive presidency among other concerns.
Speaking to NewsRadio JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayake said the pledge by common candidate Maithripala Sirisena during the 2015 Presidential Election that the executive presidency will be abolished has not been fulfilled yet.
The MP said the President was not elected the President because of his actions but because of the public who stood up against the corrupt leadership of the UPFA government.
MP Ratnayake added there has been a lapse in the President’s efforts to abolish the executive presidency and fulfilling other democratic reforms.
The JVP he said will hold discussions with the President and the Prime Minister.
