SLC to consult Aravinda De Silva despite resignation

Sri Lanka Cricket says it will continue to obtain the services of former Cricketer and Chairman of the SLC Cricket Committee Aravinda De Silva despite his resignation.

Chairman of SLC Thilanga Sumathipala said Aravinda de Silva resigned owing to personal reasons.

Speaking to media after visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic with the Sri Lanka national cricket team, Sumathipala said the SLC respects the Aravinda de Silva’s decision.

Sumithipala said Aravinda de Silva asked to be released by June adding that he informed the SLC that it was a personal decision and that the SLC respect that.

He added that Aravinda informed that he would not be able to commit after June, but added that he will continue to work as a adviser from time to time.

The SLC Chairman also commented on the team’s preparations in Kandy ahead of the 2017 Champions Trophy.

He added the team will be in Kandy for a period of 6 days and they will train in Pallekele adding that the SLC believes Kandy is an important place for the team to train as the UK weather is quite similar to that in Kandy.

The Chairman said the pitch has been made to suit that in the UK adding that the team will remain in Kandy and SLC has planned training accordingly.

Also speaking on the occasion national skipper Angelo Mathews said he has the best possible team in order to face opponents at the Champions Trophy.
