President says the army will be strengthened


President Maithripala Sirisena says while those who laid down their lives for the sake of the country are remembered the government will take steps to uplift war heroes who are still alive today, and those who have been disabled due to the war.

The President added the government will take all necessary steps to equip the tri forces with new technology, in order to better serve the country.

President Sirisena added the government is doing everything in its power to strengthen the tri forces as it is body that bares the responsibility of providing the country with national security.

The head of state said taking into consideration the country’s past experiences steps must be taken to prepare a better future for the nation.
