Emirates to fly Airbus A380 to Colombo

Emirates Airlines is scheduled to launch its double-deck Airbus A380 aircraft on flights to Colombo for the first time in Sri Lanka’s aviation history.

An official from Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said the service will be a once-a-week flight commencing on the 14th of August and it will operate with a stopover in a destination in the Far East.

Emirates Airlines made the decision following the expansion of the runway of the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The Airbus A380 provides seating for 525 people in a typical three-class configuration or up to 853 people in an all-economy class configuration.
