3rd Norochcholai generator temporarily down

The third generator of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant has been taken down temporarily due to urgent repairs.

The Spokesman for the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Sulakshana Jayawardena said the power supply across the country will not be affected.

Jayawardena added repairs were being carried out due to the challenge in keeping with the daily generation of power.

However Sulakshana Jayawardena said the power supply will not be affected under any means through the suspension of the third generator.

He stated 900 megawatts of power is generated through the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant daily while each of the three generators produce 300 megawatts.

Spokesman Sulakshana Jayawardena added despite the malfunction of the third generator the other two generators are still operating.
