Julie Bishop to arrive in the island tomorrow


Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop is scheduled to arrive in the island tomorrow.

Issuing a statement, Australia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Julie Bishop will be in the island from tomorrow till the 20th of July.

The statement added Bishop will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ravi Karunanayake and other Ministers to discuss security cooperation and explore new economic opportunities in science, resources and energy.

President Sirisena and Julie Bishop are also due to announce Australian assistance to combat dengue fever in Sri Lanka and discuss progress on the implementation of Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process, which is critical to its long-term security and prosperity.
