Singapore’s Foreign Minister to arrive today


Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan is due to arrive in Sri Lanka today for a 5 day official visit.

Minister Balakrishnan is expected to call on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Leader of the Opposition R. Sampanthan during his visit.

The Foreign Affairs Minister will also meet his counterpart Minister Ravi Karunanayake tomorrow for bilateral talks.

He will have meetings with several other Ministers including Patali Champika Ranawaka, Mangala Samaraweera, Malik Samarawickrama and Sagala Ratnayaka.

The Minister will witness the signing of a MOU between the Singapore Red Cross and the Sri Lanka Red Cross for relief and rehabilitation programs in Sri Lanka.

Foreign Minister Balakrishnan will also visit Jaffna and call on Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray and Chief Minister CV Wigneswaran.
