Priority Lane System in effect from the 15th


The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development says the Priority Lane System will come into effect in Colombo from next Tuesday.

Accordingly public transport services will be allocated a Priority Lane. The Priority Lane will be active from the Moratuwa Cross Junction to Katubedda and from the Savoy Cinema to the Bambalapitiya Junction from the 15th of August.

Meanwhile the Priority Bus Lane will also be in operation from the Katubedda Junction to the Maliban Junction and the Bambalapitiya Junction to the Pittala Junction from the 22nd of August.

Furthermore the Priority Bus Lane will also come into effect from the Battaramulla Polduwa Junction to the Ayurvedic Junction, and the Town Hall Junction to Thunmulla Junction from the 29th of August.

Additionally Priority Lanes from the Technical Junction in Maradana to Pettah, Fort and Slave-Island will be initiated on the 5th of September while the Priority Lane system will be implemented from Slave Island to Pettah from the 12th of November and Borella to Maradana from the 30th of November.

Public transportation services must adhere to the Priority Lane System on the allotted days from 6am to 9am towards Colombo.

The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development noted other vehicles will not be allowed along the Priority Lanes during this timeframe.
