Secretary of the National Police Commission Ariyadasa Cooray says no recommendations were made by the Commission to remove Senior DIG M.R Latheef from his post as Commanding Officer of the Police Special Task Force.

Speaking to NewsRadio, The Secretary said the Commission had no intention of removing Senior DIG M.R.Latheef from his post.

He added Senior DIG M.R Latheef would be elevated to a post most suited for a Senior DIG while the post of Commanding Officer of the police Special Task Force will be handed over to a DIG of the force.

Additionally, the Commission requested the Inspector General of Police to obtain approval from the Department of Management Services to facilitate the reassignment.
