Former President MP Mahinda Rajapaksa has requested Sri Lanka Freedom Party members to join the Joint Opposition citing several crises under the present administration.

Speaking at an event held in Dambulla today, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa said the government cannot proceed ahead without understanding the people of the country.

He said the innocent people have lost even the Samurdhi adding that the government cannot proceed ahead without understanding the people of this country or without understanding farmers.

He said the government betrayed the previous policies.

Former President Rajapaksa asked those of the SLFP to leave this government and join the Joint Opposition.
