Dengue death rate down – Health Minister


Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senarathne says the death rate as a result of the dengue epidemic has reduced drastically.

Speaking at a dengue eradication project in Pannipitiya the Minister said health officials and members of the tri-forces alike contributed towards dengue eradication efforts.

Minister Senarathne said despite the reduction in the number of dengue cases dengue eradication efforts should continue.

The Health Minister added another 1,000 officials will be recruited in the near future to help eradicate the dengue menace.

Minister Senarathne on a separate note added certain politicians without medical knowledge are making various statements pertaining to medicinal drugs.

The Minister reiterated the country was not faced with any drug shortage.
