President Maithripala Sirisena has expressed his respect towards the discipline maintained by security forces over the 30 year long civil conflict.

Speaking at an observational event of the eighth ‘Diyakawa’ training exercise organised by the Sri Lanka Army this morning the Head of State said victory against terrorism was achieved through the support of Tri- forces and Police.

The President said the discipline maintained by Sri Lankan defence forces is recognised both locally and internationally.

The Head of State noted victory against terrorism was won through the combined efforts of the Tri-forces and Police.

President Sirisena remarked these exercises which are conducted with the objective of furthering national and regional security and ties with international defence forces and training skilled personnel through the programme is highly regarded.

The President said the commitment, heroism, skills, bravery and discipline of personnel in this regard is very important.
