The government reiterates that a decision has not been reached to privatise the Mattala International Airport.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera rejecting all allegations levelled by factions said the government has not held discussions pertaining to the matter with any local or international party.
Minister Amaraweera said a decision pertaining to the future of the Mattala Airport will be only be taken following lengthy discussions by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Minister said the present government headed by President Maithripala Sirisena will work transparently when arriving at such decisions.
Minister Amaraweera added the Parliament will be notified and the general public will also be educated on the move.
The Minister noted the government will not sweep such matters under the carpet adding the public will be kept in the know.
The Minister stated under a government led by President Maithripala Sirisena, such decisions will not be reached in haste.
