Policies shouldn’t change repeatedly-Lakshman Yapa

2017-11-14

State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene says the country’s policies should not change regardless of a change in government.

Speaking on the fourth day of the debate of the second reading of the 2018 Budget the State Minister said a country’s policies should not be altered repeatedly.

He said from time to time various issues had resulted due to the lack of a system where policies are formulated for a country.

The State Minister noted when a government changes whether it is a consensual government or a standalone government, policies introduced should not change.

Abeywardene stated every government that took over after 1977 attempted to introduce an entrepreneurship culture but we had to achieve many wins and we could not do that.

State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene said local and foreign investors should be strengthened in order to ensure economic management.

He highlighted that without increasing state income and without managing expenditure a government cannot come out of the debt trap or manage the economy.
