Six remanded over the killing of the “Dala Puttuwa”


The six suspects arrested over the killing of the Galgamuwa tusker known as the “Dala Puttuwa” have been remanded till the 12th of December after being produced before Court today.

The suspects were produced before the Criminal Investigations Department.

Five of the suspects were arrested in Nikaweratiya. The suspects are believed to be involved in the killing of three other tuskers.

The remains of the “Dala Puttuwa” were identified during a special investigation carried out following the arrest of two suspects in possession of tusks believed to be of the Galgamuwa tusker on the 22nd of November.

Further investigations over the incident will be carried out by the CID.
