Promise of creating 1Mn jobs will be fulfilled -Eran

State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne says the government will fulfil its promise of creating one million new job opportunities.

Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today, State Minister Eran Wickramaratne said the government has generated jobs that will increase productivity.

The State Minister said some claim that they applied for a government job but were not recruited.

He said if the UNP wants to win the election, it can easily do it by appointing unqualified individuals to Pradeshiya Sabhas, Municipal Councils, Ministries and government institutions in order to obtain more votes.

State Minister Wickramaratne said the government led by Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa increased government employment opportunities from 700,000 to 1.4 million adding that the government service was still inefficient.

Accordingly, State Minister Wickramaratne said the previous government increased employment opportunities for political objectives.

He further said the previous government did not pay attention to the needs of the public.

The State Minister of Finance said the government is aware of the Joint Opposition’s agenda.
