India bowled out Sri Lanka for 215 as the hosts took the upper hand in the third One Day International at Visakapathnam.
After losing Danushka Gunathilaka early, Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama put on a 121-run partnership, after which Samarawickrama departed for 42 runs.
Upul Tharanga gave Sri Lanka a solid start – the left-hander looked in fine form as the visitors set out to win the series-deciding match. Tharanga looked in good form after hitting five consecutive boundaries, when Hardik Pandiya bowled his 3rd over of the innings.
However, as Tharanga was nearing his century, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s brilliance behind the stumps got the better of him.
At 136/1, Sri Lanka looked set to post a big total, but their plan was damaged by the Indian bowlers, especially with the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. The duo took three wickets each.
From 160 for two in 27 overs, Sri Lanka was reduced to 168 for four in 28 overs and 204 runs for 6 wickets in the 37th over. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 215 runs in 44.5 overs with Tharanga top-scoring for the Lankans with 95.
