100 election violence incidents reported- Police


Police Headquarters says 100 complaints have been lodged pertaining to violent incidents related to the 2018 Local Government Election.

The Police Headquarters in a statement said the complaints include eleven assaults, 21 incidents of threats, and eight cases of cut-outs being destroyed.

Seven complaints pertaining to the illegal distribution of goods and machinery have also been reported.

The Police Headquarters said 97 persons have been arrested thus far over violating election laws, following the announcement of nominations for the Election.

It said 8 candidates are also amongst those arrested over violations of election law.
