UNP will secure majority during elections- Ajith

Deputy Minister Ajith P Perera says he has no doubt that the United National Party will secure victory in around 250 of 341 Local Government bodies during the upcoming Local Government election.

Speaking at a public rally in Bandaragama the Deputy Minister observed the party’s main opponent was divided adding they are unable to unite.

He claimed the UNP is capable of securing power in Parliament on its own, adding the party was able to do so earlier in August 2015 as well.

However The Deputy Minister noted the UNP sought a 2/3rds majority to revitalize the party and thus decided to form a coalition.

He further remarked if anyone rejected the coalition government, the UNP would regardless establish a government on its own.
