Minister Lakshman Kiriella says the Kandy district was disregarded for many years and pledged to initiate major development in the year 2018.

Speaking at a public rally in Tennakumbra, Minister Kiriella said efficient contestants should be appointed to Local Government Bodies.

The Minister said, the public will expressed their support for the government at the election and the mandate will be made known to the entire country on the 11th of February.

He said only the public can vote parties into power and not the media.

Minister Lakshman Kiriella stressed that he is are confident that public will support the United National Party at the election.

The Minister added, “It will be a UNP victory. We promise funds for all local government bodies. We need to elect efficient persons for local government bodies. Kandy district was regarded for years. However we promised to develop the district this year. We pledged to initiative massive projects.”
