Corrupt cannot support good governance- Kabir

Minister Kabir Hashim says factions that remained silent over fraud and corruption during the tenure of the previous United People’s Freedom Alliance-led government does not have any ethical right to pledge support to the good governance government.

Speaking at a media breifing in Galle Minister Hashim said the United National party is prepared to implement good governance principles at grass root level.

The Minister further said members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna who were part of the previous government did not voice against corruption while holding ministerial portfolios.

Minister Hashim stressed even though the members of the previous government had 10 years to eradicate corruption they failed to implement meaningful action.

Minister Hashim claiming that the United National party is prepared to face the upcoming Local Government election said the party will take forward the vision of late venerable Sobhitha Thera and ensure the establishment of good governance in the country.
