Representatives of civil societies and President Maithripala Sirisena are scheduled to hold a special discussion today.
When inquired by NewsRadio, representative of the Puravasi Balaya Organisation Gamini Viyangoda said the discussion is expected to focus on the result of the 2018 Local Authority Election.
Meanwhile, Co-Convenor of the Puravasi Balaya Organisation venerable Dambara Amila thera said the mechanism to punish perpetrators should be fast-tracked by establishing a special court system.
In an interview with the BBC World Service, Dambara Amila thera said the election result has proved the frustrations the general public is facing due to the slow progress in the development projects and employment opportunities.
Accordingly, the thera said the people have issued a red warning to the government through the Local Authority Election.
Venerable Dambara Amila thera stressed the government’s pledge to work within the next two years should be implemented promptly adding that the government should earn the approval of the people once again.
