President & PM asked to consider people’s vote

The Puravasi Balaya organisation has requested the President and the Prime Minister to issue a joint statement claiming the government will be maintained with consideration to the message by the public through the results of the Local Authority Election.

Speaking to NewsRadio Convenor Saman Ratnapriya said the request was made to the President and the Prime Minister in person.

Ratnapriya said the people’s mandate was granted to the coalition government including President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Saman Ratnapriya also said the government should continue to maintain the agreements reached during the 2015 Presidential Election.

He said through this result, the public has sent a message to the government as the public wants the government to think again of the promises that they didn’t live up to during the 2015 Presidential Election and the August General Election.
