Stay order against Gotabhaya extended


The Stay Order preventing action against former Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa under the Public Properties Act has been extended once again till the 28th of February.

The order was issued when the case was taken up for hearing before the Court of Appeal today.

The stay order was issued and extended until the 15th of February following a petition filed by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and accordingly it was decided at the previous hearing to reconsider the case today.

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is charged of misappropriating a sum of 91 million rupees for the construction of the DA Rajapaksa Museum in Hambantota.

The Former Secretary of Defence had filed a petition calling for court to prevent his arrest under the relevant act.

Accordingly, the case will be taken up for hearing once again on the 27th of February.
