Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed Thisara Perera as the skipper of the team for the next two matches of the ongoing Nidahas Trophy.
The regular skipper of the series Dinesh Chandimal was suspended by the ICC for a serious over-rate offence during the game against Bangladesh on Saturday which the home side lost.
Sri Lanka bowled as many as 4 overs less in the stipulated time. However, they will face off India in the next game of the tri-series today and would be eyeing to win against them.
Sri Lanka regular captain Dinesh Chandimal yesterday faulted his bowlers after they failed to defend a total of 214 against Bangladesh in Colombo.
Chandimal speaking to media said “It was a good game of cricket. We put up a very good total, but it was actually too good of a wicket for the batters. As a bowling unit I think we were below par today and we didn’t execute our plans well”.
