President Maithripala Sirisena says the Investment Forum in Tokyo will pave the way to take the Sri Lanka – Japan partnership to new heights.
Taking to Twitter, the Head of State said the forum will bring in more Japanese investments to Sri Lanka.
Earlier today, President Sirisena met with Japanese Emperor Akihito in order to strengthen ties between the two countries.
The President was warmly welcomed by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
President Sirisena and the Emperor engaged in cordial discussions and the Emperor assured the meeting will further strengthen the long standing ties between the two countries.
First Lady Jayanthi Sirisena also accompanied the President for today’s meeting.
President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in Japan on a state visit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe yesterday and is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with the Japanese Premier during his stay.
President Sirisena will also be accorded an honorary welcome of the Japanese government at the Prime Minister’s office tomorrow.
