Australia & SL launch “Skills for inclusive Growth Programme”


Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe together with the Australian High Commissioner Bryce Hutchesson today launched a programme titled “Skills for inclusive Growth Program”.

Over a period of 4 years Australia will provide 1.6 billion rupees in aid and technical assistance to strengthen Sri Lanka’s tourism sector through training and mentoring programmes conducted for employees and small business.

In a joint statement the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training and the Australian High Commission said though the implementation of this programme the country will develop a highly-skilled labour force to take its rightful place as a premier tourist destination.

Speaking at the event, Minister Samarasinghe thanked the Australian government for its grant adding that this gesture underscores the very special historic bilateral relationship.
