The blanket ban imposed on the operation of drones in the country, has been lifted by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The operation of drones over Sri Lankan skies was banned due to security concerns following the deadly Easter Sunday attacks in 2019.
Speaking to NewsRadio Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority Ranjith Perera said owners of drones can resume operations in the country after obtaining CAA approval.
Perera said the airspace under the category ‘Prohibited and Restricted Airspaces’ will continue to be out of bounds while other areas will be accessible with CAA consent.
