Basil Rajapaksa land- Court suspends auction

Court today issued a temporary ban suspending the decision to auction a 16 acre plot of land and the residence in Malwana believed to be owned by Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

The order was issued by Pugoda Magistrate Nilipuli Lankapura this afternoon.

It was decided that the land will be sold at a public auction, following a statement made in Court by Basil Rajapaksa who claimed the land and house did not belong to him.

Accordingly the value of the land and residence was estimated to be worth 280 Million Rupees.

The said auction was scheduled to be held on the 29th of March.

However upon reassessment of the case Pugoda Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura stated the required course of action with regard to the land and residence will be declared in Court, when the case is next taken up for hearing on the 23rd of March.
