Batsmen should limit their shots- Dhananjaya

Batsman Dhananjaya de Silva says Sri Lankan batsmen should limit their shots in order to succeed on the bouncy Wanderers pitch during the 3rd Test match.

Sri Lankan batters have been in poor form during the opening two matches of the three match series played in Port Elizabeth and in Cape Town.

The visitors will have another tough assignment starting from tomorrow at the traditionally pace and bouncy Wanderers stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game, Dhananjaya de Silva said subcontinent teams are more concerned about seam movement and therefore he said the Lankans should be able to improve on the batting side.

He said, “We do all have that confidence with the bat, but we need to fine-tune our approach. If someone starts getting a big innings, we all need to rally around him. We need to get a big enough total to give our bowlers something to defend.”

De Silva with a note of caution said only a change in approach is needed to do well in South Africa.

The Angelo Mathews-led has already conceded the Test series while they will also take on the hosts in a 3 match T20 and a 5 match ODI series starting from the 20th of January.
