2,154 COVID-19 cases recorded in Sri Lanka

Another individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, increasing cases to 2,154.

The Government Information Department said a returnee from Qatar and a Navy personnel, housed at the Punewa quarantine centre, tested positive for COVID-19.

56 inmates at the Kandakadu rehabilitation centre in Polonnaruwa tested positive for the coronavirus earlier while an advisor at the centre, a resident of Marawila, also tested positive for COVID-19.

Accordingly, 60 new cases have been identified thus far today.

164 active COVID-19 cases are presently being treated.

Meanwhile another 12 persons who contracted COVID-19 recovered and were discharged increasing recoveries to 1,979.

45 suspected cases are also under medical observation at present.
