27 test positive; total COVID-19 cases rise to 1,055

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 1,055 with 27 new cases being identified yesterday.

15 patients have been identified as Lankans who returned from Dubai and are currently inmates at the Giragama quarantine centre, while 04 Navy personnel were also among yesterday’s cases.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said two of the patients were Navy personnel, undergoing isolation at the Mullaitivu quarantine centre.

Accordingly the total number of Navy personnel who have tested positive for the virus rises to 589.

Meanwhile 604 people in total have recovered from coronavirus thus far after medical treatment, however 442 active cases remain under medical care.

Additionally another 139 people remain under observation on suspicion of having contracted COVID-19.
