Curfew violations: 3,076 arrested in five days

A total of 3,076 individuals have been apprehended since Friday, the 20th of March for violating curfew regulations across the island.

771 vehicles including motorbikes and three-wheelers have also been seized by Police during the period.

The Police Media Unit said 394 persons were arrested for violating the Curfew between 6am yesterday and 6.00 this morning.

65 vehicles have also been taken into custody during the 24-hour period.

Curfew is now in place in nine districts including Colombo.

Curfew imposed to the Central, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces and in the Kurunegala District was lifted 6.00 this morning.

Curfew is expected to be re-imposed to the same areas at noon.
