3,086 people remain in 46 quarantine facilities

A total of 3,086 persons are currently housed at 46 special quarantine facilities across the country.
Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, said another batch of 163 people identified as having completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine period will be released today.
The Army Commander said, authorities had identified around 20,000 people who arrived from overseas between the 1st and 15th of March, including those who were identified as having contracted the virus, and noted that certain groups of people were allowed to self-isolate for a period of 14 days.
He said such individuals must complete the process and support the efforts carried out to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva meanwhile stated that over 7,500 people have been specifically identified among this group of returnees and they have been directed to self-isolate, whilst their compliance with these directives is also being monitored.
