492 at Kandakadu rehab centre COVID-19 positive

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva says 492 persons at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Speaking at a media briefing today the Army Commander said 429 inmates at the Kandakadu centre, 47 staff members at the centre and 16 persons who associated the inmates have thus far tested positive.

He noted that a COVID-19 positive individual was also identified in Ratnapura adding that it was a staff member of the Kandakadu centre.

The Army Commander noted that information of positive cases is lodged with the Ministry of Health first while subsequently the Public Health Inspectors of the area and the Medical Officer of Health are also notified for necessary measures.
