Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says 255 suspected cases of Covid-19, including three foreign nationals are under observation in Sri Lanka at present.

He said suspected cases are under observation at 21 hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, according to Dr. Jasinghe, the Kalutara District deemed as a high-risk zone has recorded 13 COVID-19 cases.

He said a majority of those persons are involved in the tourism industry.

He said nearly 900 tourists are currently staying in hotels in the Kalutara District and urged the group to adhere to guidelines issued by authorities.

The Director General therefore stressed that tourists in the District must aim to remain in their hotels, instead of travelling elsewhere.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe also confirmed that health authorities are carrying-out the process he referred as, contact tracing of 1,600 persons who landed in the country in recent weeks.

He said the monitoring activities of such individuals will be done for a period of 14 days.

He added the relevant group is not in special quarantine centres.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe urged all persons to support the initiatives taken by health officials to contain the spread of the virus.
