COVID-19 cases recorded in Sri Lanka rise to 3,284

An individual who arrived from Italy has tested positive for the novel coronavirus increasing total infections recorded in the country to 3,284.

The Department of Government Information said the individual was in quarantine.

Meanwhile the number of persons who recovered after contracting COVID-19 in the country increased to 3,088.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 18 persons, including three foreign nationals were discharged during the past 24 hours.

Accordingly nine persons each were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Welikanda Base Hospital.

The Ministry of Health said 183 persons, including nine foreign nationals, are currently receiving medical treatment for COVID-19.

33 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
