Kandakadu advisor’s family quarantined

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva says the family of the advisor at the Kandakadu rehabilitation centre, who tested positive for COVID1-9 today, has been directed to quarantine centres.

The Army Commander said the family resides in Marawila.

56 inmates and the advisor at the rehabilitation centre in Polonnaruwa tested positive for the coronavirus today.

The inmate at the Welikada Prison, who tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, was housed at the Kandakadu rehabilitation centre for three months before being moved to Prison.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 450 persons at the centre including inmates and officers underwent PCR tests.

The Government Information Department said further PCR tests are being conducted while quarantine measures are now being taken by health and security forces.
