The Post Master General says the Department of Posts has taken several measures for the convenience of the public despite the prevailing situation in the country.
A decision has been reached for all post offices and sub post offices to remain open for at least a period of 2 hours daily when curfew is lifted and to deploy vehicles and staff of the Department of Posts to District Secretariats for the distribution of essential consumer goods.
A decision had also been reached to allow post office premises to be used for operational activities if a request is made by District Secretariats.
Issuing a statement, the Post Master General stated a programme has also been formulated by the Postal Department to deliver medicine issued by government hospital clinics to patients, based on directives issued by the Task Force appointed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
