The Colombo High Court has decided to announce the decision to serve notice or to refrain from issuing summons on Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne based on the revision application filed by the Attorney General against the decision by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne who granted bail to the former Minister on the 21st of January.
The revision application was taken up for consideration before High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.
Appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris noted that MP Senaratne has been granted bail by violating the fundamentals of natural justice.
He thereby requested court to revoke the bail granted to the Parliamentarian.
However, MP Senaratne’s counsel requested court to reject the request.
The MP’s counsel further inquired if his client will be issued notice regarding the case.
In response, High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne stated that the decision will be announced on Tuesday.
Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne was arrested previously after staging the controversial ‘white van abductions’ media briefing during the period leading up to the 2019 Presidential Election.
