Nearly 17 million infected with COVID-19 globally

Nearly 17 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus globally.

According to latest medical figures 16,923,282 individuals have contracted the novel coronavirus.

664,193 deaths have also been linked to COVID-19 after the novel coronavirus first emerged in China’s Wuhan province.

Over 10,486,000 persons have also recovered after contracting the novel coronavirus.

The United States has reported more infections and deaths from the virus than any other nation with 4,498,000 confirmed cases and 152,343 deaths.

More than 2,188,000 people in the US have recovered from the virus, while over 55.8 million have been tested.

Brazil has the second-highest death toll with 88,634 followed by the United Kingdom’s tally of 45,878.

Mexico has confirmed 44,876 deaths linked to COVID-19.

More than 30,000 deaths have also been linked to COVID-19 in Italy, India and France while 28,436 have died with coronavirus in Spain.

Chinese state media reported the first known death linked to the virus on 11 January.

Overall, the virus has spread to 190 countries since it first emerged in China in December.
