11 more Kuwait returnees test positive for COVID-19

11 more persons who returned from Kuwait have tested positive for COVID-19 today.

Accordingly the number of persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka has increased to 1,117.

17 persons who returned from Kuwait tested positive for COVID-19 earlier today.

The Department of Government Information said the cases had been reported from quarantine facilities in Trincomalee and Minneriya.

Meanwhile the number of persons who recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 in the country rose to 674.

The Epidemiology Unit said 14 persons recovered and were discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours.

Seven COVID-19 patients were discharged from the Navy General Hospital while five persons were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and two persons were discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital.

434 COVID-19 patients continue to receive treatment at several hospitals across the island while 97 persons remain under medical observation over suspicions they may have contracted the virus.
