70 GS divisions isolated; isolation in 37 areas lifted

70 Grama Seva divisions in ten districts have been placed under isolation with immediate effect.

The Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said the directive was issued owing to the spread of the coronavirus in the relevant areas.

Accordingly, 24 Grama Seva divisions in the Kurunegala District, 12 in Trincomalee, nine each in the Nuwara-Eliya and Ratnapura Districts and six in the Batticaloa District have been placed under isolation.

Meanwhile four Grama Seva divisions in Kalutara, two each in Galle and Matale and one each in the Gampaha and Ampara Districts have been isolated with immediate effect.

Meanwhile isolation imposed in two Grama Seva divisions of the Trincomalee District, ten in Kalutara, one each in Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa, two in Nuwara-Eliya and Gampaha and 19 in Kurunegala has been lifted as of this morning.
