It has been confirmed that samples of the two bowsers containing unrefined imported coconut oil which was found at an oil mill adjacent to the Dankotuwa Town, contained the cancerous substance, aflatoxin.
Speaking to NewsRadio Customs Spokesman Sudattha Silva said it was confirmed through tests conducted by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
Silva noted samples were also sent to the Food Control Administrative Unit of the Ministry of Health and the Government Analyst for testing.
He said the Customs has only received the test report from SLSI thus far. Silva said the Customs continues to investigate the incident, while future action will be taken after receiving the reports from all three institutions.
