CCD ordered to arrest & produce Ranjan in Court

Attorney General Dappula De Livera has instructed the Colombo Crimes Division to obtain an arrest warrant for Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake from the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court and produce him before Court.
The Attorney General informed the CCD that legal action can be taken against MP Ramanayake on charges of violating the Constitution and interfering with the functions of the judiciary.
The Attorney General issued the directives following the consideration of the documents and evidence directed by the Police pertaining to ongoing investigations over the controversial phone recordings seized from MP Ramanayake’s residence.
The Attorney General had informed that sufficient facts had been tabled to name MP Ranjan Ramanayake as a suspect in interfering or attempting to interfere in judicial proceedings of Judges Padmini Ranawaka, Gihan Pilapitiya and Dhammika Hemapala.
The Attorney General instructed the CCD to record a statement from MP Ramanayake under the Criminal Procedure Code, table facts and produce the Parliamentarian before the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court.
