Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa says suspicions have arisen over possible conspiracies that individuals within the government are attempting to sabotage the President’s ‘Saubhagyaye Dekma’ programme.

Addressing media in Kandy yesterday, Piyadasa attributed his concerns to several statements made by members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna on election stages.

He said according to the current election trend, the objective is to say anything in order to garner votes while also conspiring against ruling parties.

Rohana Luxman Piyadasa noted that there are statements being made on stages that a majority government will be formed with the UNP leaders while another faction has called on the voters to refrain from casting their ballot to the SLFP.

He termed such moves as conspiracies against the SLFP and a move to jeopardise the “Saubhagyaye Dekma” programme.

Rohana Luxman Piyadasa said such moves have discouraged the people and eventually will lead to lower voter percentage at the upcoming election.
