Colombo & Kalutara report 300 new COVID cases

More than 300 new COVID-19 cases each were reported from the Colombo and Kalutara districts yesterday.

1,895 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the country yesterday with 326 infections reported from the Colombo district. Among the cases from Colombo, 51 infections were from Piliyandala while 34 were from Borella.

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 309 new cases were also recorded from the Kalutara district and 273 from Gampaha.

Accordingly, 908 new COVID-19 cases have been reported from the Western Province yesterday.

Furthermore, 153 COVID-19 cases were recorded from the Kandy District while 131 infections were confirmed from Galle.

90 infections were identified in Matale, 70 from Matara, 68 from Ratnapura, 63 from Anuradhapura and 60 from Puttalam. 58 cases were also reported from Ampara, 48 from Kurunegala, 43 from Nuwara Eliya and 41 from Polonnaruwa.

Badulla recorded 40 cases while 20 infections were identified from Hambantota, 19 from Kegalle, 15 from Batticaloa, 12 from Monaragala, nine from Jaffna, three from Vavuniya and one case from Kilinochchi.

44 individuals travelling from overseas were also included in the list of positive COVID-19 cases.
